Benediction

Today, we leave our worship, knowing that because the tomb is empty our lives can be full. So, we go where we can, for at least another two days in our Level 3 bubbles. We will show that we are people brimming with the love of God.

Therefore, let us be grace-filled in spirit, hopeful in word, and faithful in deed, for we live for the risen Christ living in us.

Alleluia; and we say Amen!

Final Anthem - Pitt St Morning Choir

Blessed be the God and Father - S.S. Wesley

This was recorded in Pitt St Church during the 10:30am service on 30 April 2017.

Pitt St Methodist Choir with Soloists: Zoë Nicholls (soprano) and Ivan Blythe (bass); Conductor Robert Howell; Organist: Walter Nicholls.

The composer, Samuel Sebastian Wesley, is the grandson of Charles Wesley and the great-nephew of John Wesley. This anthem was written for a service on Easter Day 1853, at Hereford Cathedral in England.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Which according to His abundant mercy,
Hath begotten us again unto a lively hope
By the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled,
That fadeth not away,
Reserved in heaven for you,
Who are kept by the power of God,
Through faith unto salvation
Ready to be revealed in the last time.

But as He which hath calleth you is Holy,
So be ye holy in all manner of conversation.
Pass the time of your sojourning here in fear.

Love one another with a pure heart fervently.
See that ye love one another.
See that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently.

Being born again,
Not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible,
By the word of God.
For all flesh is as grass,
and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away.

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever,

Amen.
