Our opening hymn - Where the road runs out

Where the road runs out and the signposts end,
where we come to the edge of today,
be the God of Abraham for us,
send us out upon our way.

Lord, you were our beginning,
the faith that gave us birth.
We look to you, our ending,
our hope for heaven and earth.

When the cost is left and we journey on
to the rim of the sky and sea,
be the sailor’s friend, be the dolphin Christ,
lead us on to eternity.

Lord, you were our beginning,
the faith that gave us birth.
We look to you, our ending,
our hope for heaven and earth.

When the clouds are low and the wind is strong,
when tomorrow’s storm draws near,
be the spirit bird hovering overhead
who will take away our fear.

Lord, you were our beginning,
the faith that gave us birth.
We look to you, our ending,
our hope for heaven and earth.

Words to focus our worship

 Read by Sonia Faulkner

God beyond all names and images, we worship you in faith.
God in the Christ One with human face, we worship you in truth.
God who moves, draws, forms and enlightens our life, we worship you in Spirit.
God in relationship. God the beginning and God the end. You are God.

We pray:
God of mystery,
whose silent depths arise encompassing us;
whose unknown, unknowable face hides from us;
clothe us in your darkest chasm … tenderly.
May it be so.

God of creation, we often imagine we must go it alone.
Remind us, at such moments, of the ‘we’ in your creation,
and the ‘one another’ in our community.
Comfort and empower us, as we gather in your Spirit.
Amen

Sharing of the peace

In 2nd Corinthians chapter 13 Paul invites us to greet one another with a holy kiss. In our setting today, where we gather in our homes, at a distance from others, we have the opportunity to contact another member of the congregation and wish that person the peace of Christ.
