Call to Worship

Our call to worship, written for this virtual service, is from Micah 6:8

God has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?

We pray:

It is good to be together, God,
sharing in worship as we meet in our own spaces,
together listening for your voice,
united by your Spirit.
In this time of worship
tell us about your kingdom of kindness
so that we can seek it.
Show us your justice.
We want to walk with you,
humbly, closely, daily.

Hymn - Creation speaks

(organ introduction)

Creation speaks, surpassing understanding:
light in the darkness, time and space entwine.
We who inherit vistas of true glory
sense growing wonder for the works divine.

Fill now our minds with wakening comprehension.
Fill too our hearts, with all that love might bring.
Grant that our senses tune to hidden beauty
causing real music in the hymns we sing.

Heeding our call to follow in Christ’s footsteps,
offering commitment for the things we pray:
taking the challenge to be true disciples,
taking the cross to follow come what may.

Teach us the way to show due care and reverence
for all we hold in trust for those to come,
planning ahead as we build for the future,
holding a vision for a world begun.
